Melbourne Connect Co-Designed Event / Social
In Hub Talk 3 we welcome Myron Yovannidis, Program Officer with Uni Melb’s Advancement Team, one of his hobbies includes hosting survivor weekends.
“Ever wanted to be on a reality tv program but never been successful? Well, this is where I come in, helping make people’s reality tv dreams come true by hosting fully immersive Survivor weekends. With three seasons under my belt, we’ve certainly had some twists and turns that have rivalled the tv show. I’ll be talking about how the idea was first born, the challenges of creating such an event and just how competitive people can really be when the title of Sole Survivor is at stake!”
The Hub Talk may sound familiar to some, and that is because we are grateful to be inheriting this tradition from the Melbourne Accelerator Program’s weekly Mob Talks. The Mob Talk was born way back in 2012, by the early MAP startup Venue Mob. Venue Mob promised to find and book the perfect venue for your event at a renowned, unique or hidden spot in Australia.
Venue Mob saw the effort and strain being put in by their fellow founders and decided a Friday afternoon session that had nothing to do with startups, customers or coding would benefit everyone in the cohort, and maybe build a stronger community bond between everyone. So, Mob Talks were born, and have been happening every Friday night at MAP offices for almost 10 years.
Now that Melbourne Connect is MAP’s new home, and we are excited to involve the new MAP cohort, and the whole precinct community in the tradition. We hope it will bring as many laughs, inspire as much new knowledge, and develop just as many friendships as it has to the Melbourne Accelerator Program teams over the last 10 years.
