Melbourne Connect Co-Designed Event / Social
Hub Talk
Melbourne Connect is proud to invite you to our Hub Talks, a social event where one of our community presents on a topic close to their heart that has nothing – not even a little bit – to do with work.
Ever wanted to do a bucket list trek to Everest base camp?
How would you get there? What would you bring? Where do you stay? How difficult could it really be?
In our December Hub Talk we’ll welcome Director of Operations at Melbourne Connect, Phil Callaghan, who will share his journey and the planning it took to hike Everest!
“I’ve hiked all over the world and Everest base camp was always on the to-do list – then in 2019, after 17 amazing days of adventure, it became done!
Check out the route and the conditions you’ll experience – and ask any questions – then put this incredible journey on your bucket list too.”

The Hub Talk may sound familiar to some, and that is because we are grateful to be inheriting this tradition from the Melbourne Accelerator Program’s weekly Mob Talks. The Mob Talk was born way back in 2012, by the early MAP startup Venue Mob. Venue Mob promised to find and book the perfect venue for your event at a renowned, unique or hidden spot in Australia.
Venue Mob saw the effort and strain being put in by their fellow founders and decided a Friday afternoon session that had nothing to do with startups, customers or coding would benefit everyone in the cohort, and maybe build a stronger community bond between everyone. So, Mob Talks were born, and have been happening every Friday night at MAP offices for almost 10 years.
Now that Melbourne Connect is MAP’s new home, and we are excited to involve the new MAP cohort, and the whole precinct community in the tradition. We hope it will bring as many laughs, inspire as much new knowledge, and develop just as many friendships as it has to the Melbourne Accelerator Program teams over the last 10 years.
