SANE Australia

SANE Australia is a national charity making a real difference in the lives of people affected by complex mental health issues

SANE Australia is the leading national organisation making a real difference in the lives of people affected by complex mental health issues.

Australians affected by complex mental health issues – such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, complex trauma, and severe depression and anxiety – experience major barries in accessing quality, affordable support, and face high levels of stigma and discrimination.

These barriers not only directly impact the life of someone with a complex mental health issue, but also those supporting a family member, friend or colleague.

SANE is committed to changing this reality for the five million Australians affected by complex mental health issues.

SANE SUPPORT SERVICES

SANE Support delivers free services and support for adult Australians right across the country, with professional phone and online counselling and peer support, art-based support groups, online guides and resources, and professionally-moderated web forums – Australia’s only 24/7 community and peer-based support for people with complex mental health needs.

SANE’s DAX CENTRE

The Dax Centre, located in Melbourne University’s Kenneth Myer Building, provides artists with lived experience of mental health issues opportunities for creative expression while fostering social change by expanding the public’s awareness of mental illness and breaking down stigma through art.

LIVED EXPERIENCE

SANE’s work is informed by people with lived experience, including SANE’s team of Peer Ambassadors, ensuring the organisation’s programs and services meet the needs of the community, and the growing demand for its services.

DIGITAL INNOVATION

In 2021, SANE is embarking on a new path toward digital innovation, led by its new CEO Rachel Green – work which will benefit from collaborating with other partners in the new Melbourne Connect precinct.

ENGAGE WITH SANE AUSTRALIA

To learn more about complex mental health issues, how to support those impacted, or to access SANE Support services, please go to the SANE Australia website.

You can also engage with SANE in other ways including requesting a SANE Peer Ambassador to speak at a corporate or community event to share inspirational stories of lived experience and recovery, see an exhibition at SANE’s Dax Centre, or donate to SANE’s critically needed work.
