Wattle Fellowship Spotlight #3

The University of Melbourne invites you to the final of three events that showcase the learnings, development and impact of students involved in the Wattle Fellowship program. You will have the opportunity to learn about Wattle Fellowship, hear about Fellows’ journeys and projects, and connect over food and music.

The Wattle Fellowship is the University of Melbourne’s flagship program with a mission to unlock the leadership the planet needs. Our vision is one where sustainability practices and principles are embedded into every social endeavour. Wattle Fellowship action projects are diverse and divergent, but all aim to create positive social and environmental outcomes.

At this event, our fellows will share with you:

  • How rubbish is being utilised to teach students in Indonesia (Malindo Wardana, Master of Energy Systems)
  • The impacts of climate change on Victoria’s homeless population (Maroushka Saldanha, Master of Environment)
  • The impact of reusable menstruation projects in Fiji (Alex Oswald, Bachelor of Arts)
  • What it takes to have young people engaged in native forest protection (April Golder, Master of Environment)
  • The link between mental health issues and the climate crisis (Craig Hyde-Smith, Master of Professional Psychology)
  • How decolonisation has sustainability benefits (Bronte Alston, Master of Public Health)
  • The importance of community in social impact work (Alex Dekker, Bachelor of Commerce)
  • How not being afraid to look silly is the first step to creating change (Kayvan Gharbi, Doctor of Medicine)

Arrive from 5:30pm for networking and an exhibition, with formal proceedings starting at 6pm, hosted by MC and Wattle Fellowship Program Director Linh Do.

Come along to network, hear ideas from the next generation, and learn about fellow-led sustainability action projects designed to create a positive impact.

Want to hear from more fellows? We also have spotlight events on the 23rd at EY and 24th at St. Hilda's College.
