Wattle Fellowship Spotlight 2024 #1 - St Hilda's College

The Wattle Fellowship invites you to Spotlight 2024: the first of three events that showcase the learnings, development and impact of students involved in our program. You will have the opportunity to hear about the journey and projects fellows have undertaken, and connect with other people passionate about sustainability over food and music.

Our mission is to unlock the leadership the planet needs. Our vision is one where sustainability practices and principles are embedded into every social endeavour. Wattle Fellowship action projects are diverse and divergent, but all aim to create positive social and environmental outcomes.

At this event, you will hear about:

  • Combating textile waste through a zine and workshop tackling fast fashion (Luca Steele, Bachelor of Arts)
  • Addressing waste in the medical system through healthcare coffee culture (Vincent Wang, Doctor of Medicine)
  • Creating pathways for sustainable creation in film and TV productions (Izrael Little, Master of Environment)
  • Political communication through contemporary dance in "cooking with gas" (Zodie Bolic, Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance))
  • Engaging the moveable middle through connecting drawing to locality and responsibility (Olivia Sutherland, Bachelor of Arts (Degree with Honours))
  • The groundbreaking sustainability work of chemical engineers in the green transition (Nieve Powell, Masters of Chemical Engineering)
  • Empowering Ghanaian university students to lead sustainability transformations (Rita Adjei, Doctor of Philosophy - Education)
  • Reducing household food waste through a digitised food inventory that actually works (Jack Hu, Bachelor of Science, Diploma in Computing)

Please arrive from 5:50pm for snacks, and a 6:05pm kick off which you will be hosted by Wattle Fellowship Program Director Linh Do.

Thank you to St HIlda's College for hosting us. A light waste-not supper will follow.

Come along to network, hear ideas from the next generation, and learn about fellow-led sustainability action projects designed to create a positive impact.

Want to hear from more fellows? We also have Spotlights events on the 8th of May at EY and the 9th of May at Science Gallery Melbourne.

Interested in becoming a fellow? We are currently accepting applications from University of Melbourne students - applications are open until the 21st of April.
