SECAN Research Summit

The SECAN Research Summit is a one day multidisciplinary research conference for ECAs (late PhD students, level A and level B academics) in the Faculty of Science to present their research to other colleagues at the University of Melbourne. The conference will include several parallel streams of invited talks, oral presentations and rapid communications with overarching themes (see below) to cater for overlapping interests across different schools within the university.


While the final themes for each session will be announced closer to March 24th 2023, some tentative themes are:

  • Next-generation Materials
  • Complexity in Science
  • Climate Adaptation
  • Emerging Quantum Technologies
  • Solving Problems with Software
  • Science in Medicine
  • Big Data and AI
  • Understanding our Universe
