The Pearcey Oration, recognised as Australia's foremost technology oration, features a renowned expert discussing critical technology issues confronting our society. This year, the oration will be delivered by Professor Michelle Simmons AO, CEO and Founder of Silicon Quantum Computing and Director of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology.
Professor Simmons is an internationally acclaimed trailblazer in atomic electronics and quantum computing. Her team's groundbreaking work in developing a quantum computer in silicon has positioned Australia as a global leader in innovation. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Pearcey Foundation, and the Oration event will include the presentation of the Victorian Pearcey Entrepreneur Award, an annual recognition celebrating mid-career individuals or teams who have made exceptional contributions to information and communications technologies.
This year, the award will be presented by the Honourable Ben Carroll, Victorian Minister for Industry and Innovation, Manufacturing Sovereignty, Employment, and Public Transport.
The Pearcey Foundation is a proud DIF Victoria partner and the Pearcey Oration is a feature event of the Victorian Government's DIF2023 Festival which runs from 23 August to 6 September. The Pearcey Oration will take place at Melbourne Connect and is part of Innovation Week.
