Step into a realm where time bends at MPavilion Parkville. For two days, witness its transformation into a futuristic Arabian café, a glimpse into a post-apocalyptic world marred by climate catastrophe and another pandemic. Designed as a work of science fiction, the café speculates on a peculiar dystopian future — familiar yet unpredictable, inviting visitors into the unknown.

Immerse in every detail of a bygone era reshaped by reinvention and experience music genres reconstructed from the past with live DJs amidst culinary delights.

At the heart of this transformation is Majed Fayad, a Lebanese-Australian multidisciplinary visionary whose creations defy convention. From expansive experiential installations to ground-breaking digital imagery, Majed's portfolio sparks dialogue on the fusion of Eastern and Western cultures and offers a glimpse into the tapestry of 21st-century existence.

This event is presented as part of Melbourne Design Week, Australia’s largest and leading annual design festival.

About

Majed Fayad is a Lebanese-Australian multidisciplinary artist who holds an extensive and unique portfolio of visual stimuli ranging from large experiential installations, to pushing boundaries of digital imagery. Majed’s practice focuses attention on the often overlooked divide and blend of Eastern & Western culture. He works to bring attention to conceptualisations of identity and iconography through a forward thinking, futuristic & dystopian experience. Majed’s often overlooked angle shifts the lens through ideations of 21st century capitalism, consumerism, Greek mythology, Renaissance art and pop culture.
