Open Innovation Competition

Got an idea to make Melbourne more inclusive for International Students and Alumni?

City of Melbourne is launching its annual Open Innovation Competition to solve a city issue. With a different theme each year, the competition calls for innovators, entrepreneurs, students and community members to submit their bright ideas to solve the challenge. It is designed to tap into the creativity and expertise of our community and stimulate new ideas and effective solutions.

Participants are encouraged to incorporate data and emerging technology into their ideas to explore potential opportunities.

This year, the theme for the Open Innovation Competition is ‘an inclusive city for international students and alumni’. We invite the community to come up with innovative solutions that will deepen and enhance the impact international students and alumni make on our city.

To mark the launch of this 6-week long competition, City of Melbourne has assembled a panel of experts, innovators and leaders in their field to share their knowledge, experiences and insights. Join us to discuss the current barriers to economic and social inclusion faced by international students and alumni, as well as the many opportunities engagement with this diverse, talented and globally-connected cohort presents for Melbourne.

There will be a moderated panel discussion and a live Q&A with the audience to help spark inspiration to solve this year’s problem statement:

How might we make Melbourne a more inclusive city for international students and alumni so they can thrive, contribute to and share in our economic prosperity?

Join the launch event to hear from a panel of experts to help spark ideas and inspire your response to this year’s challenge, plus the opportunity to network with likeminded innovators.
