Melbourne continues to be a locus for Australia’s emerging and disruptive transport technologies, as well as some of the nation’s largest transport infrastructure projects.
In May, we’ll hear from leaders of the University of Melbourne’s AIMES project. AIMES (Australian Integrated Multimodal EcoSystem) is a world-first integrated transport and technology project, running in real-time from the streets of inner-city Melbourne. It has one goal: to link all transport infrastructure and users in cities together to deliver safer, cleaner, and more sustainable urban transport. Across a six-square kilometre segment of inner-city Melbourne, AIMES has brought together more than 50 local and global partners and government bodies to establish the world’s first, and largest, transport ecosystem in a real-world environment.
We’ll also hear from the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning about how it is working to leverage more from the state’s road and transport assets and supporting the introduction of new technologies and services. Key priorities for the department include next-generation ticketing, metro rail infrastructure renewal, completion of the Westgate Tunnel, and preparations to deliver world-leading public transport across metro and regional Victoria at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
It's an exciting time to be part of Victoria’s transport industry. Join us on 2 May to hear about all this and much more, plus get the full rundown on August’s ITS Australia Global Summit.
Speaker presentations will be followed by a networking session; refreshments and canapes will be served.
