Business / Melbourne Connect Co-Designed Event
Lunch and Learn - Social Media Basics
About this event
Melbourne Connect Lunch and Learn events are designed for the community to learn from a variety of experts from within the precinct. Each month, one of our talented community members will present on their area of expertise, giving audiences the opportunity to walk away with actionable new skills. Attendees can bring their lunch and take a break while listening to an informative talk that can add something new to their skillset.
This month Sarah Adams, Digital Content Manager at Melbourne Connect, will speak to the role social media plays in the communication strategies of organisations and individuals, looking at how you can cut through when there are so many voices.
Learn about the differences between channels, where your audience is at and how to reach them. We’ll go through content development and curation for your audience; how to create an editorial calendar for your channels; risk mitigation; and the importance of fact-checking before posting. We’ll also look at some of the biggest mistakes people make on social media and how to avoid them, as well as how to create clear, concise copy.
This will be a great chance to learn how to build an audience – whether on a business page you run or your own personal account – find your niche and serve both your followers and yourself.
Sarah Adams is an expert communicator and content manager with experience that spans the creative industries and higher education.
