Each week in the Month of October, Melbourne Connect will be sharing healthy recipes with our community.
Executive Chef, Deb Smith from Atlantic Group will be demonstrating how to make one of these recipes during our Lunch and Learn series. Many studies shows that what we eat and how we feel is linked, and why we need to consider our choices especially during current times.

DEB SMITH EXECUTIVE CHEF AT MELBOURNE CONNECT
Deb Smith has been an outstanding innovator in the hospitality industry for 34 years. Her experience and knowledge spans hotels, major events, venue and offsite event catering. Deb has been fortunate enough to work and lead culinary teams at Australia’s most prestigious events:
• 2000 Sydney Olympics
• 2006 Commonwealth Games, Melbourne
• Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix
• Australian Open (2000 to 2008)
• 2015 Melbourne Cup Carnival
Deb is a qualified Chef with a 4 year apprenticeship in her culinary kit, she is also a qualified TAE trainer and HACCP supervisor.
In 2006, Deb was the winner of Best Venue Caterer and overall Caterer of the Year for Victoria, awarded by the Restaurant and Catering Association. Due to her creativity and ongoing pursuit for excellence, Deb was a finalist for the same award in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
A true stand-out in the industry, Deb is respected by her peers and renowned for her ability to perform under the pressures of a fast-paced kitchen. Deb will tell you her most satisfying achievement, thus far, has been mentoring young up and comers in the industry. She looks forward to many more years of working behind the scenes at Melbourne’s most iconic events and locations.
