AIBUILD has collaborated extensively with Professor Lihai Zhang from the University of Melbourne on numerous AI-related projects, securing multiple ARC fundings which are over 10 Million. This partnership has been instrumental in the development of projects like Otaro, an AI-powered interactive education platform. Operating from Melbourne Connect, AIBUILD benefits from a dynamic, collaborative environment that fosters innovation through access to resources, knowledge exchange, and networking opportunities.

Key projects include Otaro, an AI-powered fall detection system for aged care, an AI invoice system with POS and a management dashboard for supply chain and retail, an AI chatbot for customer service and many more. These projects highlight AIBUILD’s versatility in addressing diverse industry challenges with AI-driven solutions.

With support from the Innovate Connect Alliance (ICA), AIBUILD is poised to continue pushing the boundaries of AI, helping industries adopt smarter, more connected technologies for a better future.

Yifei Wang is the founder and CEO of AIBUILD Pty Ltd, a Victoria-based innovative startup known for its expertise in AI consulting, web technologies, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR). He is also an academic at the University of Melbourne, teaching AI, machine learning, and internet technologies. Since founding AIBUILD in 2017, Yifei has created over 20 local jobs and positioned the company as a leading provider of AI-driven consulting services.

Yifei’s expertise in artificial intelligence spans multiple industries, including supply chain, healthcare, construction, real estate, retail, and design. His innovative approach to AI consulting helps these sectors adopt advanced solutions that optimize operations and improve decision-making. He has co-invented three key patents, including technology for 3D model reconstruction using machine learning algorithms and AI-powered fall detection systems for aged care, which have become central to AIBUILD’s platforms.

Professor Lihai Zhang

Infrastructure Protection & Mgmt | PhD, FIEAust, CPEng, NER

Discipline Leader – Engineering Management

Lihai Zhang is a Professor of Infrastructure Protection & Management and the Leader of Engineering Management Discipline in the Department of Infrastructure Engineering at The University of Melbourne. He is best known for his expertise in porous media modelling, engineering reliability analysis, and machine learning.

Prof Zhang received his Master of Engineering degree from the National University of Singapore. Following a successful ten-year career in industry, he obtained his PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2009. His research work focuses primarily on reliability-based life-cycle assessment of built infrastructure encompassing building cladding subjected to hailstorm impact, corrosion of construction materials, and structural health monitoring using advanced non-destructive testing techniques. Notably, his expertise in interdisciplinary research gives him a leading advantage and a unique perspective in solving complex problems in Biomedical Engineering, particularly in Orthopaedic Biomechanics & Mechano-Biology. Prof Zhang is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health, Monash University.
