Empowering security teams with generative AI: Fundamentals and applications of GPT models with Microsoft's Roberto Rodriguez

In this talk, Roberto will provide a high-level overview of the fundamentals of large language models (LLMs), with a focus on GPT models. Specifically, he will cover topics such as few-shot learning, code generation and retrieval augmentation and provide basic examples and experiments to illustrate these concepts. Roberto Rodriguez, also known as Cyb3rWard0g in the Infosec community, is a respected security researcher from Microsoft. He is renowned for his contributions to the field, having created influential open-source projects like the Threat Hunter Playbook, Security Datasets, OSSEM, SimuLand, and ATT&CK Python Client. Roberto's work has profoundly influenced the cybersecurity community, promoting proactive threat hunting and knowledge sharing. AI and Privacy: How smart home devices compromise your privacy with Northeastern University's Dennis Giese


This talk discusses how smart IoT devices can potentially compromise user privacy by turning their "intelligence" into surveillance tools. While additional capabilities can enhance service and customisation, they also raise questions about privacy, often without users' awareness. This talk also explores the extent to which IoT manufacturers prioritise cybersecurity in their devices, with examples drawn from a collection of IoT smart devices that have encountered security challenges.

About the speaker


Dennis Giese is a Boston-based researcher specializing in the security and privacy of embedded systems and IoT devices. He also has a keen interest in physical security, applied research, and reverse engineering of malware and various devices. He has completed Masters degrees from Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany and Northeastern University in Boston
